Food Drive Comes to You!

Saturday is the day for one of the biggest single day food drives in the entire country as the National Association of Letter Carriers conducts its annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. This has got to be one of the easiest ways ever to help alleviate hunger in our community as this is the food drive that comes to you! Thanks to the letter carriers, you don't even have to leave your house to participate. Simply leave your non-perishable (no glass please) food item next to your mailbox, and the letter carriers will handle the rest. They will pick it up and then make a special delivery to food banks throughout the Valley to immediately get that food into the distribution pipeline.

Here at Valley United Way, we are proud to have been partners with our local letter carriers from the very first year of this innovative effort. We are especially pleased that our Youth Leadership Program members have been active volunteers in helping with the food collection at various sites where the letter carriers drop the food including the Spooner House which is also the Valley Food Bank.

So take a minute and look around the house today and plan to make your donation of food right at your own residence. It will make an immediate difference here in the Valley.
